Osprey Fly Fisher’s Association is an angling club based in the South Wales area, mostly around Pontypridd and Abercynon. The club has some of the best water on the river Taff, with a stretch starting at upper boat bridge at Treforest industrial estate up to Abercynon. The river here holds good wild brown trout, some very large, with a healthy stock of grayling. The club also has fishing in the river Cynon, a Taff tributary. In recent years this has become known for good grayling fishing. There is also an excellent stretch of the river Rhondda, a Taff tributary with a reputation for good trout fishing. The club also has the Clydach river, a small stream which has a good head of small, but obliging wild brown trout. The club allows fly fishing and spinning with barbless single hooks on the river beats. All fish must be released. The club has a block booking lease to fish the Beacons reservoir, near Brecon, which has wild brown trout only, it is not stocked. Fly only, and all fish must be released. Permits are available through the secretary and various outlets, see the website for details.
