Where? Close to McDonalds, in Newbridge, Gwent. Cefn Fforest AC control this 25-peg old sealed canal section for members only at £30, from Green’s Tackle, in nearby Pontllanfraith. Tel: 01495 221881.

What’s being caught? Roach, perch, skimmers with some chub and small carp.

Tactics? Pole with bread punch and maggots over groundbait, or a small feeder with corn to far side cover for the carp.
