A common fish of Welsh lakes, perch are shoaling fish that love structure. Habitat in Wales varies from small stillwater fisheries to vast reservoirs. Perch to 4lb plus (2kg) have been caught in Welsh waters, but typically they are under 8oz (220g).
Venues with exceptionally large perch include White Springs near Swansea and Port Talbot docks. Perch are also found in some rivers, including the Wye and lower Taff in Cardiff.
