East Aberthaw Lagoon is a freshwater pool in a nature reserve very close to Aberthaw beach. Fish species include Roach, Rudd, Carp, Tench, Eel, Bream, Perch. The fishing is locally said to be ‘free’ as long as a rod licence is held, although some sources say it is on private land and no fishing is allowed. So we would suggest you inquire locally. The pool is very weedy in summer so is almost impossible to fish during the warmer months. Fishing may possible off the beach shore into the deepest spot. The lagoon once produced a record Mullet in 1979 of 14lb 2oz. There are still mullet (and bass) in the lagoon, at very high tides they can come through the outlet pipe.
