Llandegfedd Reservoir, situated east of Pontypool, covers an area of 434 acres. The reservoir was well known for good trout fishing. The trout fishing has declined in recent years. It is still stocked with rainbow and blue trout. Fishing is by fly and worm. Boat hire is available and a new lodge/visitor centre is now open. Llandegfedd is one of the best coarse fishing venues in Wales. It holds the former UK record record pike and has prolific coarse fishing for bream and hybrids. Pike fishing is normally allowed in October – contact the venue for details. Fish present include rainbow trout, bream, roach, pike and perch.
