Holyhead Breakwater - Fishing in Wales

Holyhead Breakwater

Fish caught here include wrasse, whiting, pollack, pouting, dogfish, conger, smoothhounds, codling, flatties, rays, coalfish.

From the end of the A55, proceed straight through the traffic lights by the station, along Victoria Road. Turn left into Prince of Wales Road, which then becomes Beach Road. Carry on as far as a large sign for Breakwater Country Park, opposite Holyhead Sailing Club. Bear left here.

Take this single track lane as far as a row of large boulders on the right hand side of the road, followed by a large metal gate. It is usually open and everyone seems to ignore the “Stena Line Private Property” sign!

Go through here, down the left-hand side of the warehouse and follow the gravel track onto the large breakwater.

Should the gates be shut, there is a lay-by shortly past them. It is possible to park here with care and walk onto the breakwater.
