Gwent Angling Society - Fishing in Wales

Gwent Angling Society

Gwent Angling Society has fishing on about 15 miles of exclusive water in South East Wales, primarily for game fish.

This includes seven excellent wild trout and salmon beats on the middle/lower Usk, the upper River Sirhowy for trout and the River Llynfi, a tributary of the Wye, which has trout and grayling. A recent addition is Talybont reservoir, which is one of the best wild trout lakes in Wales.

Gwent AS also has beats on the River Wye at Boughrood on the upper river, for trout, grayling and salmon, and also at Wyastone Leys near Monmouth, which has salmon fishing and coarse fishing for barbel and chub.

To fish, anglers must join the club as full members. There may be a waiting list for membership, visit the club website for details. Day tickets are available, to guests of members only.

The club has a shared beat on the Usk, Abergavenny Town. This beat can be booked online with the Fishing Passport.
