Angling Trust & Fish Legal 2023 Auction: Welsh Fishing Opportunities
This event has become a key fundraiser over the past few years for the Angling Trust and Fish Legal, for 2023 we have worked hard to gather a selection of lots that will appeal to a wide a range of tastes and budgets.
All monies raised will help us to continue our work to protect and develop freshwater and marine fishing, including ongoing Angling Trust and Fish Legal activity in Wales.
The 2023 auction is now LIVE with 13 Welsh fishing opportunities kindly donated by angling clubs and individuals. These are:
LOT 9: Pembrokeshire Anglers Association – Western Cleddau
Day tickets for two, brown trout, sewin and salmon fishing on the clubs prime 15 mile stretch of the Western Cleddau.
LOT 16: 2 Rods fishing the river Conwy on a privately owned exclusive beat.
2 Rods fishing the prime Conwy, privately owned, beat at Plas Madoc to be chosen on one day in July. Rarely available fly and spin water on semi tidal, lower reaches of this beautiful river.
LOT 22: Season Ticket – Llynfi Valley AA
Fishing for mainly brown trout on 8 miles of river. Sea trout and salmon late on in the season are caught.
LOT 24: A day’s fishing on the Nevern river in Pembrokeshire
Nevern Angling Association – Single bank fishing along most of its length, predominantly a sewin (seatrout) fishery but there are chances of hooking salmon.
LOT 27: 2 Day tickets Llandovery Angling Association, river Towy
Access to all Llandovery AA waters. Could be used for 2 separate days by one angler or by 2 anglers fishing together on 1 day.
LOT 46: Mid Wales River Severn and Lake Fishing
Llwydiarth and Darlach Angling Association – A years membership 2022 to 2023 to fish our waters in Mid Wales and our club stillwaters on the Wirral, plus affiliated fishing on River Dee and Canals around Chester.
LOT 53: Signed copy of ‘Wild Lakes of Wales – An Anglers Guide’
Beautifully illustrated with breath-taking photography, the 194 page book profiles 50 wild day ticket lakes (llyns) with an image of a wild brown trout captured from each lake by the authors, Ceri Thomas and Alan Parfitt. ‘Wild Lakes of Wales’ also delves into tactics and flies, with essays on trout colouration, fishing conditions and the different types of Welsh upland lakes. The winner will receive a copy of the book signed by Ceri and Alan, plus a fly selection featuring some of the patterns described in the book.
LOT 93: 1 day’s fishing for 2 rods on the River Monnow, Abergavenny
This is a unique opportunity for 2 rods to fish for 1 day on this beautiful natural trout river. Includes an introduction to the water by a Club member. The winning bidder will be given locked gated access to Beats 1 & 2. Kindly donated by Tregate Anglers Club.
LOT 97: Day’s boat fishing for two on Llyn Nantlle
Day’s boat fishing for two on Llyn Nantlle, excellent for brown trout and sea trout. Kindly donated by Seiont Gwyrfai & Llyfni Anglers Society.
LOT 100: One week’s fishing – Ogmore Angling Association
One week’s fishing on the OAA waters on the river Ogmore and Ewenny. Excellent trout and grayling fishing with sea trout and Salmon runs.
LOT 108: Day ticket for two rods on the River Cilieni, Parc Fishery
Day ticket for two rods on Pontardawe & Swansea Angling Society Ltd waters on the River Cilieni, Parc Fishery (a tributary of the Usk at Sennybridge)
LOT 117: Private hire of Rainbow Trout Pool, North Wales for 6 rods, Wirral Game Fishing Club
Up to six rods on a spring fed 3 acre clear water pool near Denbigh in North Wales. The pool is stocked monthly with rainbow trout of at least 2lbs and is quite fertile allowing for the fish to grow on and reach weights of up to 6lbs. Fishing is with barbless single flies and each rod may retain one fish. There is a shelter for lunch to be taken or to get out of the weather. The fishery will be closed to club members on the day and the winner will be met and shown the water.
LOT 124: A day on Llyn Gwyddior
A day’s fishing for two rods on a club boat on Llanbrynmair’s Llyn Gwyddior in mid Wales, for brown trout. The chosen day will be by arrangement with club Chairman and former Wales captain Emyr Lewis; the lake fishes best from mid May onwards. Emyr will drive the auction winner to the venue, and will provide a life jacket. A boat seat can be provided by prior arrangement if required. Emyr will advise on flies for the day, and will provide suitable patterns if requested.
