Cwmbran Angling Association has fishing on Llantarnam Ponds. These consist of 3 pools and fish for bream, roach, chub, carp, rudd, perch and tench. From 2026 The Llantarnam Ponds, after being virtually abandoned for around 8 years have had a major overhaul, trees have been removed, the swims are regularly raked of weed, bracken and brambles have been removed from around all the banks and roadside. The place has been transformed and Cwmbran Angling Association has had a much needed relaunch. The association also has coarse fishing on the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal and brown trout fishing on the Afon Lwyd, a tributary of the Usk, the River Monnow, a tributary of the Wye, and the Dowlais Brook. Enquiries can be made via the Facebook page or club treasurer. Pontymister Angling & Hunting Supplies and Cwm Bran Angling shops sell tickets locally.
