Sea Bream
Black bream – Spondyliosoma cantharus
Gilt head bream – Sparus aurata
There are many species of sea bream around the world, but in Wales we have two main species – black (the most common) and gilt head.
Sea bream are a great eating fish and tend to be found in deeper water over mixed ground or reefs. Cardigan bay and Pembrokeshire are good areas for bream fishing, although finding them can be tricky.
A lot of anglers use the services of a charter boat skipper to target bream – with the right local knowledge bream fishing in Wales can be fast and furious.
