Brook Trout
Salvelinus fontinalis
Brook trout (Or American Brook trout) are a very rare fish in Wales.
It is actually a char native to North America. It is very occasionally found in stocked stillwater fisheries in Wales.
Historically Brook trout have been introduced into several wild upland lakes in Wales, during the Victorian era and also in the 1970’s. It is said a few populations survive.
