Brill
Scophthalmus rhombus
The brill is a flatfish quite similar to the turbot in habits. It can be found in plenty of locations along the Welsh coast. Like turbot it is a predator, so fish baits work well. Like turbot, brill is a great fish to eat. It can be found on many of our sandy beaches and will take a variety of baits fished on the bottom.
All flatfish tend to be found on sandy beaches, over light ground and in estuaries, of which we have an abundance in Wales.
