Wick - Fishing in Wales

Wick

Wick has fishing from two beaches, Traeth Bach (Little Beach) and Traeth Mawr (Big Beach).

Traeth Bach consists of a series of shallow rock ledges. Fishing is onto rough ground. This is the more popular of the two.

Traeth Mawr also has rock ledges and a stretch of sand and shingle, opposite which is some clean ground.

Although best known for big cod, whiting, bass and turbot have been caught.

Wick Beach is best reached from Dunraven Bay. Follow the “Llantwit Major” signs (A4265) off the A48 as it by-passes Bridgend. Follow the A4265 to St. Brides Major. Southerndown is signposted from here. Dunraven Bay is down the first lane on the left after entering Southerndown. Parking is available here, followed by walking along the cliff path to the east, past Witch’s Point.
