The Llanidloes Angling Association has fishing on the upper river Severn from just above the town to the waterworks on the A470. Several miles of fishing in total. They also have a few miles of the Afon Clywedog. Day tickets are £6, season tickets £20. Theses are available from the Bradley’s Texaco filling station in the town, cash required. There are good grayling here, running to over 50cm. Also wild brown trout in decent numbers. The river is often fishable after a flood, due to the Llyn Clywedog dam acting as a buffer. The wading is very easy, being fine gravel for the most part. Access is from the town bridge, or on the A470, parking at the entrance to a forestry track. Trout season runs 18 March to 7 October. National coarse fishing season applies for grayling, be aware of bait restrictions and new bylaws, these can found here.
