Patch is a stretch of boulders, silt and sand and fishes onto a mainly rough bottom. Fish caught include bass, flounder, pollack, mullet. There is also the chance of a salmon or sewin (sea trout) but these require a licence. From Cardigan take the the A4548, signposted “Gwbert”. After a while, the road runs alongside the Teifi estuary. As the road bends inland, turn left down a narrow lane between a boatyard and a caravan park. The beach is usually firm enough to drive and park on. Note: If you park on the beach, beware of high tide. It can and does eat motor vehicles.
