Alwen is a large reservoir near Cerrig-y-Drudion. There are no longer regular stocking of rainbow trout, but there are wild brown trout and coarse fish present, notably perch. The fishing is controlled by Welsh Water, tickets are available from the nearby llyn Brenig visitor centre. £63 a season or £15 a day. It will be run as a wilderness venue. Fishing permits can now be booked online. The nearby Llyn Aled will now be stocked regularly with trout instead of Alwen.
