Pontypool Angling Association has the Afon lwyd in the Ponypool area, fishing is from Chapel lane to Abersychan fire station. Afon Lwyd has wild brown trout, with fish up to 2lb caught. Season runs 3rd March to 30th September. There is no spinning allowed, as per an NRW bylaw protecting rivers in the Usk catchment. All fishing is C&R.
