Prestatyn has fishing from three beaches, Ffrith Beach (Traeth Ffrith), Central Beach and Barkby Beach (Traeth Barcbi). They are, in fact, one long beach, the western end of which is in Rhyl. They are all sand, fishing onto a mainly sandy bottom. A popular mark is Gronant Dunes at the eastern end of the beach. Fish include bass, rays, codling, dabs, plaice, whiting, flounders. On entering Prestatyn on the A548, the road goes over a railway bridge. Just after this it takes a sharp bend to the left. On the apex of this corner, turn right and then left into Barkby Avenue, signed “Traeth Barcbi / Barkby Beach” with a brown sign. At the end of this road is a car park, right by the beach.
