Gludy lake is a truly magical place. Situated just outside the market town of Brecon, the naturalised stillwater has been on the map for over 150 years. In a wooded hollow, a small earth dam holds back just over 7 acres of rich, fertile water that is full of invertebrate life. Managed as a trout fishery for over 20 years, Gludy has always been run on a purely catch and release basis – so any stocked fish get the chance to mature and grow into fine specimens indeed. The lake holds rainbows, blues, browns and even the odd tiger. Fishing is from boats only, boats and electric engines are supplied on-site, along with access to a luxury day lodge. The lake also allows float tubes. Update December 2022: Due to a change in circumstances Gludy Lake has limited the fishing season, it is now mid March to mid June. This ensures the best conditions on the lake. Day tickets are £65 for a full day & include the use of a boat with electric motor.
