Predominantly flowing over bedrock, this beautiful and secluded beat covers one mile of right bank fishing on the river Usk and one mile of a tributary stream, the Crai. The main river here is small to medium sized with a series of dramatic falls, flats and gutters: typical features of the upper river. Whether dry fly fishing or trundling a nymph through the deeper channels, Pantysgallog has something for every kind of fly fisherman. Some sizeable trout occupy this part of the river (caught to over 4lbs) and there is also a chance for an occasional sea trout or salmon given the right water conditions, especially later in the season. Wading is reasonably difficult with felt or felt/stud soles essential. Parking is less than 100m from the river. Block Booking is available on this beat. You can book all the tickets available (sometimes at a discounted price). You can only fish up to the maximum daily number of people allowed for that type of fishing. Half price evening tickets can be purchased after 1pm on the day of fishing. Fishing is allowed from 5pm.
