** Update from Rhayader and Elan Valley Angling Association on 17th October 2023: Last night the committee made the tough decision to keep Llyngwn closed for the winter season. We are not satisfied with the water conditions at the lake and we feel that it’s in the best interest of the club, it’s anglers and the aquatic environment to keep the place closed over the winter. We know this is disappointing and we will all miss fishing the lake. We will update you in the spring with any future plans. ** Llyn Gwyn near Rhayader is run by the Rhayader and Elan Valley Angling Association as a stocked trout fishery. This attractive fly fishing venue is open all year on a day ticket basis. Llyn Gwyn is stocked regularly with rainbows averaging 2lb or so every fortnight. As well as standard rainbows, blues and even golden trout have been stocked to provide variety. Fish in the 5lb to 7lb class are also regularly introduced to spice things up. There are also wild brown trout and carp in the water. The fishery has platforms which offer access for disabled anglers. Day tickets are available from D. Powell, Newsagents, West St., Rhayader or Hafod Hardware in Rhayader.
