Porth Tywyn Mawr (Sandy Beach) is clean sand, with rocks at either end, fishing onto a mixed bottom. At the south-west end is the huge Penrhyn caravan park, and the beach is very busy during the tourist season. Fish caught include dogfish, bass, coalfish, codling, pollack, flatties, whiting. Porth Tywyn Mawr (Sandy Beach) is signed off the A5025 just north of Llanfachraeth. Follow the signs through several turns to the beach, where there is parking on the side of the road.
