Merthyr Tydfil Angling Association: Cyfarthfa Park Lake

Cyfartha lake is situated a short walk from Merthyr Tydfil town centre. Situated in a scenic and tranquil park, the lake is easy to access with good parking nearby, making it suitable for elderly and disabled anglers.

You must be a member of Merthyr Tydfil Angling Alliance to fish here.

The lake is fishable on the roadside only, from pegs 1 to 40.  The lake is very popular with dog walkers, people walking and cycling.  Therefore anglers are requested to take care when casting.  The main species present are Carp to 25lb, bream to 4lb, crucian carp to 3lb, roach, perch, eels, gudgeon and the occasional trout that finds its way into the lake via the feeder.  The lake is open all year round for fishing.

Unfortunately American Signal Crayfish are also present in the lake and as an invasive species any caught must NOT be returned to the water, but disposed of.
