Llyn Clyd - Fishing in Wales

Llyn Clyd

These are two very small mountain lakes in the Ogwen Valley high above Cwm Idwal.

The larger lake holds small wild brown trout in good numbers, up to 1/4lb in weight.

The smaller lake is very shallow and appears to be fishless.

Llyn Clyd is the second highest lake in Wales that holds brown trout, at 2,165 feet altitude.

It is a very steep and strenuous walk up to this beautiful spot above Llyn Idwal. Allow at least 1.5 hours for the climb.

Clyd is said locally to be ‘free fishing’ for rod licence holders.

We have been unable to locate any contact details, so we recommend anglers enquire locally.
