Hayscastle Trout Fishery - Fishing in Wales

Hayscastle Trout Fishery

Hayscastle Trout Fishery is a well stocked, spring-fed 3 acre lake fishery in the heart of Pembrokeshire at Hayscastle. The lake is available for all abilities and holds competitions and match plays. Fly fishing is allowed and the lake has a bag limit.

The water depth ranges from 6 ft to 15 ft and in the colder months sinking line tactics are the order of the day. The fact that the lake is spring-fed means that even in extreme drought conditions, Hayscastle held its water level well and fishing was consistently good.

The fishery is open from dawn to dusk with the trout being at their most co-operative between mid-afternoon and closing time particularly during the summer months when the sedge hatches come into full swing as the sun starts to dip.

There is a lodge at the fishery which provides shelter from any unpleasant weather. It houses toilet facilities as well as tables and chairs.
