Cambrian Angling Association has fishing for wild brown trout on Llynnoedd Barlwyd, two lakes to the east of Blaenau Ffestiniog. The lakes are around 1500 foot altitude. They are accessible on foot by a 30 minutes’ walk from the lay-by at the top of the Crimea Pass. The larger lake (10 acres) was emptied in 2003 for repairs to the dam and will take some time to recover, being hardly full of water and very shallow but the very productive smaller lake (5 acres) is well worth a visit. As of 2024, tickets can no longer be booked online with The Fishing Passport. Information on local ticket outlets can be found on the clubs website.
