Rhosrydd is a shallow lake, between 3 and 10 foot deep. Most of it averages just 5 or 6 foot. At 15 acres Rhosrydd has always produced some of the best quality brown trout fishing in the area, with specimens to over 5lb recorded. Its holds wild and stocked brown trout. The insect life is very good – of particular note is the great red sedge, upon which the larger fish can lock onto during summer evenings. Through the course of the season expect terrestrial insects to figure highly, including the coch-y-bonddu beetle in June. Rhosrydd can be dour if the fish have their heads down on the bottom, or on a very bright day. It fishes best during damp, windy conditions or evenings in the summer months. The llyn is wadeable, but be aware that there are soft bottomed areas so be careful. Rhosrydd is fly fishing only.
