Aberdare and District Angling Club: River Cynon

Aberdare and District Angling Club has fishing on the River Cynon, a tributary of the Taff. This is around 3/4 mile just upstream of Asda in Aberdare. The stretch will soon be available to fish on the ‘Fishing Passport’ in 2024.

The river Cynon has wild brown trout. In recent years it has become a very good grayling river, especially in the lower stretches. It is unknown if grayling are found upstream of Aberdare, so brown trout will be the main quarry here.

As of autumn 2023 the club is under new management, contact details David Davies Tel 07881620682 or Martin Harris 07894878700.

Annual or day tickets for the club can be purchased at Hirwaun post office, 35 High Street, Hirwaun, Aberdare, CF449SW (Monday to Saturday 9-5:30pm). Or Debs Newsagents, Also in High Street, Hirwaun.
