At around 25 acres Glandwgan is a fairly large lake. Quite lowland in character, It is connected to Llyn Rhosrydd by a small stream and sits ½ a mile further down the same valley. It requires a walk of about 600 yards. Anglers must leave their vehicles in the car park at Rhosrhydd. The lake is noted for its dry fly fishing when the Coch-y- Bonddu are on the wing in June. Glandwgan once had a good head of 10-16oz wild brown trout with the occasional bigger fish. The lake is not stocked. In recent years fish numbers have reduced significantly – perhaps due to climate change and over enrichment. However the average size has increased. This has made the fishing very dour at times and the fish are not free rising. But quality wild fish of over 3lb are possible on the right day. With a small head of fish, catch and release is preferred to sustain the limited wild population. Fly fishing, spinning and earthworm fishing are allowed on Glandwgan.
