A bit of an oddity, garfish are unmistakable with their long beak-like snout and long tapering body. Garfish have green bones – however they are edible.

Garfish rarely grow bigger than a few pounds, but they fight well and take lures and flies.

Garfish form into shoals to hunt, they can often be found with mackerel and sandeels. Their diet is made up of small bait fish fry They are a migratory species which appear in shallow Welsh waters in summer.
