Montgomeryshire Angling Association has coarse fishing on the Montgomery Canal.

Excellent fishing is to be found on the “Monty”. On most stretches, you will find a broad selection of species including large Tench , Perch , Pike , Roach and Bream. Also, on the restored northern section, you will find Carp, Dace, Rudd and Crucian Carp.

On the Welsh Section, the Montgomery Angling Association lease the fishing rights on the canal between Tirymynach (near Bank Lock Bridge 109) and School Lane, Belan (Bridge 123).
Anyone wishing to become a member should contact the club secretary who will be pleased to provide details.

Day and weekly permits for this stretch are also available and for purchase locally.
