Llangorse Lake

Llangorse Lake is a large natural lake of approximately 400 acres.

It is owned by the Llangorse Lake Conservation and Management Co. Ltd who issue permits for boating and fishing on the lake.

Llangorse Lake is best known for it excellent pike fishing, in recent times good numbers of double figure pike have been caught, up to 25lb. Historically it has produced fish in excess of 30lb, with a 68lb pike caught in 1846. (Which remains unsubstantiated)

It is a good ‘runs’ water, with a large number of pike present. The lake fishes well to deadbaits in winter, and lures in early spring and autumn. It is also a good venue for fly fishing for pike.

Llangorse also holds a huge head of coarse fish, particularly bream and specimen sized perch and tench.  These are not often fished for.

Fishing is from boat only, no bank fishing. Boats can be hired, but no engines are supplied so bring your own. You can launch your own boat/kayak to fish, a launch fee applies.

Steeped in Welsh folklore, Lllangorse a SSSI and most of the bank is reedy, with extensive lilly beds in summer. There is an island, which is actually a crannog, built by a Celtic chieftain.

Tickets and boat hire are available on-site in the shop. Details on the website.

COVID-19 Update: Fishing must now be booked online (book fishing link to website below). You can no longer pay using the honesty box on the day.

All hired fishing boats must return by 4pm so that it is possible to clean the boats prior to them being used the following day.
