Barry: Jacksons Bay

Barry has fishing at Jacksons Bay, which is a sandy beach with rocks down one side and a causeway, part of the docks entrance, down the other, fishing onto mainly clean ground.

Fish caught around Barry include bass, smoothounds, rays, conger. dabs, whiting, cod, mullet, pouting, flounder, plaice, wrasse.

Jacksons Bay is reached by following the signs for Barry Island. Carry straight on past the fair ground, turn right at the T-junction then follow the road round to the left. There is parking near the beach.

Barry also has beach fishing at Cold Knap, Whitmore Bay, Little Island Bay and Watch House Bay. There is also wall fishing at the Old Harbour and the Docks and rock marks, two of the better known being Friar’s Point and Bendrick Rock.
